Caledonian Canal Cruise
The Crossing The crossing is a 5 day flotilla event which allows a chance to explore the Caledonian Canal from Fort William to Muirtown Basin in Inverness.
A concept of British Waterways, The crossing which is a reference to the fact that the waterway was used to cross from the Atlantic to the North Sea, aims to celebrate the history of the Caledonian Canal, and is featured in the Year of Homecoming programme for 2009.
The event will be in two parts.
- A flotilla of boats through the Caledonian Canal
- Water and land based events along the route.
The spectacular flotilla will navigate the lock system, stopping at set locations along the way, where there will be an opportunity to celebrate Highland culture through storytelling, street theatre, family events, music, dance and ceilidhs.
Water based activities will include boats, canoes, kayaks, angling etc.
